THIS ONE WAS much di erent from the first, however. The entire area, which spanned what looked to be at least two square miles, was covered in lush green grass.

Every so often around the property, there were trees growing in groups of three that strongly resembled aspens.

Their bark was white with black spots, like an aspen, and the leaves were either green or gold. The shape of the leaves was di erent, though. They looked more like maple leaves.

O to our right stood a large log cabin building, surrounded by several smaller log cabins. A log fence surrounded the buildings but left room equivalent to a couple of football fields in front of them. There were several other fenced-in areas around as well. What was most noticeable, however, was the huge lake that sat behind the buildings, about fifty yards away. The water was teal-green and blue, so still that the reflections of the clouds floating lazily overhead were clear as day.

“Wow,” Clara said, staring with her mouth open at the water.

“It’s beautiful,” Corinne admitted begrudgingly.

“It is like a whole other world back here! Why don’t people come here more often, I wonder!” I added. If I’d

never seen anything else in Delom, I would’ve been happy right there.

“Hey, there’s someone standing on the porch of the big building,” Corinne said, pointing a finger. Looking over, I could make out Aiden gazing in our direction. He waved an arm high overhead to let us know that he saw us.

“That’s our cue,” I joked.

The three of us walked towards Aiden, who met us with a wide smile when we climbed the building stairs. We found ourselves standing on a massive wraparound porch lined with pots full of flowers.

“Harrison, good to see you again so soon,” Aiden greeted me, extending his hand to shake.

“I would have been here months sooner if I had known how beautiful it was!” I replied. “Do you spend all year up here?”

“Yeah, I do. The place takes quite a bit of maintenance. If I closed up for even a month, it would take me two to get it ready to open again,” he replied. “How was your walk in?”

“It was pretty, too!” Clara answered. “Hi, I’m Clara.” She introduced herself with a small bow and then pushed Corinne forward a few steps. “This is Corinne!”

“Hello, ladies. Fantastic job with the show last night, by the way,” Aiden told them.

“Thank you. It’s nice to meet you,” Corinne said quietly.

“I don’t want to keep you all day, so why don’t we go inside, and I can show you around?” Aiden said, turning to me.“Actually, I heard you had a sort of petting zoo here. I thought the girls could play with the animals, so they didn’t have to be bored by our business,” I told him.

“Certainly, good idea. I’ll run them over there and be right back. Have a seat and make yourself comfortable,” he replied, gesturing towards a nearby porch swing. “Ladies,

follow me!” He led the girls back down the stairs and o to the side of the house.
